Peruvian Opals: Stimulates creativity and gives the wearer the courage to speak

Silvija and Taya Koschnick are designers, jewelers, and sisters. A little over two years ago the two sisters decided to collaborate and began designing jewelry, but they were not new to the world of exotic beads, gems, and rare metals. Raised by a mother who owns and operates Paradise Beads II, in Oberlin, Ohio, they grew up with an education in the rare, the beautiful, and the ancient.

labodorite

Labradorite: the Stone of Spiritual Awakening.

Like so many artists, Taya and Silvija, had been working in retail while doing their art on the side, and like any artist has to do, they decided to take the courageous plunge and commit themselves fully to what they love: creating, designing and building jewelry, and together they became Tasi. We are so grateful they did.

Central to their creations are the metals and gems they use to make these unforgettable pieces, such as, Nigerian brass and rough rubies. They use, “hand patinanted precious metals, natural semiprecious gemstones, vintage American and European components, and historically rich antique and ancient trade beads”. (As quoted from Silvjia and Taya) They do research on the history and place of the materials, and painstakingly care about who they are buying from, and how that material is obtained. Working to the best of their ability to ensure that their gems and metals are brought to use through importers that use humane procedures, and have integrity to treat the planet and her inhabitants well. You can tell we love them, as we believe you will too. If you don’t you can just ask costume designer Wendy Chuck, who designed the costumes for Twilight, and purchased some Tasi designs for the movie.
